Congratulations on your growing family and welcome to Bijoux Babies Doula Services. Here, we honor birth persons, the human body, and the right to choose. We are an inclusive, full spectrum doula service that aims at ensuring our clients, regardless of background and identity, receive the support, encouragement, education and love they need as they experience fertility, pregnancy, labor, birth, or loss.
While bijoux may not mean much to the average person, to us, we know that babies are some of our most treasured connections and that birth and loss are a powerful experience. We respect the journey of birthing persons and parents and have dedicated their lives to ensuring all birthing people get to have the birth experience they desire. Because we can’t predict how every birth will go or have control over every detail in the process, a Bijoux Babies doula can help you prepare for the experience through education, empowerment, and emotional support.
Becoming a parent for the first time or even many times over can be overwhelming and simultaneously exciting. Pregnancy and parenting is not a one time event but a journey that is filled with ups and downs and requires growth. Having a doula present during labor and birth can provide a sense of calm in chaos and peace under stress as you walk in this journey. Cydney is very emotionally intelligent and knows how to gracefully insert herself into whatever scenario presents itself. I would trust her to get along with any mama, partner, midwife, doctor, or nurse. My labor lasted multiple days and Cydney was available that entire time. She knew exactly what to say to remind me I could do it without ever minimizing how difficult it was. Once I'd checked in to the birth center, I went back and forth between being chatty and wanting company, to being quiet and wanting solitude, and Cydney followed my lead that entire time. She effortlessly moved between the forefront and the background based on my cues. She provided physical support, but also knew what I needed to hear. She is very affirming! “Cydney was amazing. I was in labor for 5 days and she stayed with me and helped me through all the contractions and figure out when I was getting close and needed to call the midwife. I had a VBAC home birth, both were new to her and she took all of it like a champ and you'd have never known. My husband Curt and I were both drawn to Cydney as a doula while we were expecting our first baby in the Spring of 2020. She is a warm and grounded person, in addition to being an excellent communicator. During the final months of my pregnancy, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic taking hold and the very heartbreaking and troubling days following the murder of George Floyd in our city, she was a source of calm and connection. While COVID-19 did not allow Cydney to be physically present at the birth of our son, and it just didn't work out to have her with us virtually during my intense 48-hour labor, I still felt her energy with us before, during and after. We were able to meet in-person one time, and her demonstrations of labor positions proved to be very helpful indeed. I am so grateful for everything she did for us. I wholeheartedly recommend her doula services for anyone searching for knowledgeable, grounded support for late pregnancy and birth.
