Doula Cydney

My career as doula was inspired by attending the birth of my second niece nearly 17 years ago. I was my older sister’s labor companion at the time and attended several childbirth education classes. It was during this experience I realized how amazing and even magical the labor and birth process is. I loved supporting my sister during the experience and wanted to pursue my passion in helping others through birth work. I now get to live out my calling and build relationships during such a transformative moment in a parent’s life.

My doula philosophy is that every birthing person should have informed consent and informed refusal, that bodily autonomy and respect of choice is essential in maternal-infant health, and that breastfeeding and lactation isn’t just about the health and safety of baby and parent, but about the health of a nation. I believe that every birthing person should have access to the birth they desire. And while that may not always be perfectly possible, respectful and equitable care is. My primary goal is to ensure that my clients are supported, encouraged, educated, and loved.

In an effort to provide more comprehensive care, I also trained in pregnancy and infant loss, became a certified breastfeeding educator while in pursuit of becoming an IBCLC, trained and certified as an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, and serve as a Doula Mentor, helping up and coming doulas build robust, sustainable businesses and developing their knowledge and passion to become skilled doulas.

As I continue to grow my personal doula practice, I aim to travel and provide doula support across the country and around the world, teach childbirth education and provide comprehensive, culturally tailored breastfeeding and lactation support.

I’m currently serving clients in Omaha, NE, Lincoln, NE and Council Bluffs, IA and surrounding metropolitan areas and attend births at all local hospitals where doulas are welcome.
